Xu Xiaobin, male, born in 1980, is from Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. He graduated from Shanghai Maritime University with a Ph.D. in Power Electronics and Power Transmission. He is the Vice Chairman of the Intelligent Decision and Reasoning Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, Member of the Technical Committee on Fault Diagnosis and Safety in Technical Processes of the Chinese Association of Automation, Member of the Information Fusion Sub-Committee of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is the recipient of the Zhejiang Province Outstanding Young Scientist Fund, Young and Middle-aged Academic Leader in Zhejiang Province, and Zhejiang Province '151' Talent Engineering. He primarily engages in research on intelligent information fusion, safety and reliability assessment of complex systems, fault diagnosis, and fault prognostics. The main technical issues he addresses are: how to fuse multi-source fault feature information collected from multi-sensor environments in engineering sites, and how to conduct fault detection (industrial alarm system design), fault localization, and identification (safety monitoring system) based on the fusion results. His main theoretical methods include data-based pattern recognition theories and methods, such as Dempster-Shafer (DS) evidence theory, fuzzy reasoning, neural networks, expert systems, etc. Around the above research content, he has led one Key Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Young Scientists Fund, one General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), one Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), etc. In recent years, he has published over 140 high-quality academic papers in key academic journals including IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE Systems Journal, Information Sciences(IS) with more than 80 of these papers being indexed by SCI. He has won two special prizes of Science and Technology Award of China General Chamber of Commerce, one second prize of the Zhejiang Provincial Intellectual Property Award, one second prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, one second prize of the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation and Promotion Award, etc. Under his guidance, 2 students got provincial projects, 5 graduates were awarded provincial outstanding graduates, and 2 doctors graduated on time (both of doctors received National Scholarships).
